The Industrial Revolution was a period from the 18th to the 19th century in which major changes in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transportation, and technology had an enormous effect on human history which significantly influenced the lives of people lived in the UK and eventually around the world. The Industrial Revolution was a technological revolution, the transformation from an agricultural nation to an industrial nation. Industrialization brought many people into new workforces and new living neighborhoods in urban areas. Cities during the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century showed a large increase in population in Britain and created terrible conditions for the poor working class and their families. These incredibly harsh living conditions can be seen in images 1 and 3 where families are forced to live in an overcrowded and inadequate room. There was a very high demand for houses and many were built in terraced rows as can be seen in image 4. Some of these houses only had a small backyard where an outside bathroom was placed. Others were "back to back" with no yard, as shown in image 2. People living in cities needed affordable housing as the Industrial Revolution continued to grow. The Industrial Revolution not only brought terrible housing conditions, but many families had economic problems because they were being paid too little. Many people were unable to feed their children every day and sent them to sleep on an empty stomach until the next day, when they arrived at work. On the other hand, the owners failed to keep the houses in operational condition due to the increase in population, as image 7 shows the large number of poor people on the streets. Unmaintained homes have become dangerous for those who live in them, as demonstrated in image 5 demo... center of sheet... healthy living conditions including clean drinking water, sanitation, regular waste collection and medical care, as illustrated in image 13. The local government ensures that the streets of towns and cities are cleaned regularly, as illustrated in images 14 and 15. Working-class people live in apartments with many windows, as demonstrated by 'image 16, in healthy condition with parks and recreational areas nearby. Modern cities, as in Figure 17, offer a comfortable and safe lifestyle for workers and their families. Engineers bring nature to the door of modern apartments as shown in image 18 with lots of sun and fresh air. For the 20th century working class to enjoy the benefits of the industrial revolution that were not possible during industrialization which brought many poor workers into the cities and caused overpopulation and harsh living conditions.
