Powers of a Mobile Technology In today's ever-evolving world of technology, convenience and ease of use are among the top priorities for technology companies. Computers, smartphones and tablets are used constantly. If you don't know the answer to a question, just type it into your phone and boom, you'll have the answer in seconds. Just like computers, smartphones have apps that allow a mobile device to do almost everything a computer can do. While the computer may have more power, mobile devices are quickly catching up. As mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones take over the technology industry, the standard PC becomes less practical. Why do we consider a smart smartphone or tablet a tablet? Many different things go into these mobile devices; from all the hardware that makes the phone work to all the software that makes the phone do what it does. Apple's latest device features a 64-bit processor that also packs 4 gigabytes of RAM (Higgonbotham, Stacey). While it may seem like it means nothing, it's the same type of processor that a computer comes with, unlike the older, limited processors in most smartphones. At the moment this processor might be like driving a Nascar to work, but soon there will be a road for this Nascar. Software is another important aspect of any computing device. Without software, whatever device it is, it's just a piece of plastic and metal. Parts of software are the operating system that acts as a communicator between you and your computer, then there are applications and programs that allow you to perform specific tasks (Types of software). Hardware and software are what power mobile devices without one or the other it would be something completely different. In the world of smartphones t...... half the paper......use. Running programs requires energy and being mobile you need to have a battery. When smartphones first came on the market, batteries barely lasted all day, but as technology advances, battery life has improved significantly and many tablets have long-lasting batteries. If your battery has a short lifespan, there are cases that will increase the battery life extra simply with a case. Mobile devices can do almost anything you would want to do on a computer and are cheaper and more convenient. By knowing how a computer and a smartphone work, you can now understand mobile devices and why they can compete and conform to computer standards. For the average user, a tablet or smartphone can do just about anything they want and there's no need to carry around a laptop or sit in front of a desktop computer. While a computer may still have some advantages, mobile still seems like the best option.
