Topic > An excessive amount of social media and technology has…

Today people spend approximately seven hours and thirty-eight minutes a day on technology (Ives, p.18). The excessive amount of technology, including the use of social media, has negatively affected our society as a whole. The problem isn't that we use technology, but it's the overuse and overuse that harms us. Although technology offers some benefits, such as the ability to use our tools effectively and connect easily, we must consider its social and psychiatric effects when it comes to using it in excessive quantities. Some might say that, overall, the benefits are what we need to focus on. Without technology we would not be what we are today; innovative, creative and able to communicate in a variety of ways. This generation is considered the most expressive and creative (Kabani). We have the tools to express ourselves, such as with social media and the ability to create new apps, websites, videos and images. These are some ways that allow us to share who we are with the world and represent ourselves the way we would like. Additionally, this generation is more receptive to other cultures and truly appreciates the many influences of diversity. Our world, including technology, unites many cultures and is also diverse. Furthermore, the use of technology for this generation has positively influenced their education and knowledge. Some technological tools, even apps, have helped children with disabilities and those who have difficulty in school. With the tools and convenient ability to complete school online, this generation is considered the most educated in history. The number of qualifications obtained rose to 23% (Kabani). Schools have seen a positive increase… half of the paper… they have influenced us in every aspect of life; emotionally, mentally, socially and even physically. The benefits have indeed positively changed and helped our lives, but we need to put a limit on the amount of time spent on technology and social media. Although technology offers some advantages, such as the ability to use its tools effectively and connect easily, we must consider its social and psychiatric effects when it comes to using it in excessive quantities. Researchers and studies have provided a recommended amount that should be spent, but today people continue to knowingly exceed that amount. There is no "cure" or precise way to improve ourselves, it is simply a problem that we must solve from within ourselves, starting from knowing what a realistic limit can be for ourselves and starting to realize what the negative effects can really be . to you.
