One way I can demonstrate personal interest in my students is to interact with them as individuals. When I was in elementary school I liked to talk to my teacher about what I did over the weekend or how everything was going at home. I felt important and that the teacher really cared about me as a student. As a future teacher, I want my students to feel like I did when I was younger. I want them to know and feel that they are important in my classroom. I can agree with the book that greeting each student at the door individually and by their name has more meaning than greeting everyone at the same time. I would make time during the day to have a chance to talk to students about what is going on in their lives. If any of my students had extracurricular activities, I would be excited to see how my students did outside of mine
