Introduction Soldiers falling, bullets flying, tensions rising: The Persian Gulf War was a significant war in terms of modern American history. The Cold War was a time of unease across the nation, from the end of World War II in 1945 to the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. After the Vietnam War ended badly in the early 1970s, the United States remained out of the war for another 20 years. When Iraq threatened to invade Saudi Arabia in late 1990, the United States knew it had to intervene. After about two decades without war, America did not know how its military stacked up internationally, especially against the Iraqi military which was the second largest in the world (Smith 2013). Soon after the stockpiling of coalition forces in the Middle East, the invasion of Iraq began. First weakening the targets with naval attacks, the ground forces overran the Iraqi forces and liberated Kuwait. As soon as the war began, it ended in favor of the coalition forces. Thanks to excellent preparations before the war, the United States conducted a rapid battle against Iraq, which led to a successful outcome and restored confidence in American citizens. dictatorship of Iraq with a huge arsenal of weapons such as missiles and tanks, and the supplies needed to create chemical and nuclear weapons. The main objective of the replenishment of the Iraqi army was to put an end to Muslim extremism in Iran, which controlled the country at the time. The Iraqi army was brutal in its attacks on Iran using highly inhumane chemical weapons, and the war with Iran ended after 8 long years. Saddam Hussein was also known for attacking the Kurdish people of Türkiye with what... middle of paper... conclusion. The Persian Gulf War was a success for the United States and restored the nation as the predominant world superpower. As stated by our veterans, the United States soldiers had to work together as a unit to defeat the Iraqi army. Although the actual war was short, the preparations exercised by the United States were what helped guide them to victory. The victory helped prove once again that the United States is a world power when it comes to military forces. Due to the difficult causes of the war, the duration of the battle was rapid and led to positive consequences for the US soldiers. Through blood, sweat and tears, soldiers made their way through the harsh conditions of the Persian Gulf War. The United States has proven once again that freedom is not free and that soldiers will do anything to protect their freedom.
