From dental aesthetics, to the enzymes in our saliva, I have long called the oral cavity a captivating study of interest. In retrospect, any mention of going to the dentist caused me great excitement as a child, oddly enough. I believe pursuing a career in the dental field is uniquely the most rewarding and lucrative job of the twenty-first century. Dentists are able to build bonds with their long-time patients and provide a pleasant, inviting environment while administering the best oral care possible. What more could you ask for from a job? While this career path offers a magnificent future, with great rewards comes a long journey that requires great dedication. My motivation to learn more about dentistry is driven by my genuine fascination with teeth and the mouth in general. I have always been obsessed with my teeth, smiling in the mirror and peering at my Carabelli cusp. Being able to treat oral conditions for a living is a spectacular career path for me. I have always had a keen interest in learning and gaining knowledge; interest lights the flame, but curiosity spreads the fire. Over the years it has become apparent to my friends and family that I have formed a one-track mind in my pursuit of becoming a dentist, specializing in pediatrics. I believe that with hard work, dedication and the desire to learn, I will definitely be able to achieve my goal. It is clear that the dental profession is very demanding. This career requires skill and dedication. I believe my greatest challenge when entering the dental field will be my ability to make change in a profession that has been around for thousands of years. That said, my biggest challenge also serves as the root of my biggest goal. I want to become a le... middle of paper ...... end to map out the different things I want to do once I get my degree. I believe it is very important to help others throughout your journey, and even more so when you finally reach your goal. Money should be the last factor holding a student back from education and therefore, I plan to offer a scholarship for students interested in pursuing a career in the dental field. I often played around with different scholarship titles in my head. “Your smile is priceless” or “Grin for Green”. Ultimately, what matters most is providing the leaders of our future with doors of opportunity and encouraging them to turn the knobs. After all, I'm not a fortune teller; I cannot guarantee much of what the future holds for our earth. What I can guarantee is the simple fact that I will continue to work hard, so one day “DMD” will follow my name.
