Were we all aware of the poverty that afflicts the African continent and the fact that the populations of the countries that make up the continent rely on gold and diamonds to keep themselves alive? Are we too aware that we financed a genocide every time we bought diamonds? I said before that Africa relies on gold and diamonds, but a serious issue needs to be raised for people not dying from these diamonds we buy. We call this the “Blood “diamond” because in countries like Angola, Sierra Lenone and Liberia a civil war was started financed by diamonds that people in outside countries were buying, selling them for $3.72 billion at a time for a significant amount of light-colored diamonds. People were urged to stop spending money greedily on diamonds and several protesters held signs saying things like “Boycott all diamonds,” “Diamonds are on your conscience forever ” and “Think of the life that ended just for a little stone.” Diamonds are supposed to be symbols of love, joy and new supplications, but children have their hands cut off to find your ring or necklaces....
