Topic > Essay on the Muslim Brotherhood - 731

The Muslim Brotherhood is a religious and political group, founded on the belief that Islam is not just a religion, but also a real way of life. The Brotherhood calls for a move away from secularism and a return to the rules of the Quran as a framework for healthy families, communities and states. Moving away from secularism means trying to combine religion and state, and that people with different beliefs are no longer equal when it comes to the law. The Muslim Brotherhood is present mainly in North Africa and the Middle East. The Muslim Brotherhood is considered a terrorist organization by many countries, including Bahrain, Egypt, Russia, Syria, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (Human Rights Watch). As mentioned in the first paragraph, many North African countries consider the Muslim Brotherhood to be a terrorist organization. The Muslim Brotherhood itself, however, initially declared that its goal was to build schools, hospitals and other services, while instilling non-secular beliefs and ways of doing things. When they were founded in the late 1920s and early 1930s, they thought they were doing everyone a favor by making sure everyone was Muslim. Not everyone believed or wanted this lifestyle to be imposed on them, especially among the inhabitants of North Africa. This led to violent killings and horrific conflicts, mainly caused by the Muslim Brotherhood. Fast forward to present day Egypt, where the Brotherhood was founded in the first place. The conflict between these North African countries and the Brotherhood has not eased at all. In fact, right now the situation is worse than ever. For example, just last month (April 28, 2014), 683 individuals were... middle of paper... many countries classify them as a terrorist group. The Brotherhood shows no sign of backing down, and justice systems will continue to execute members if the Brotherhood continues to enforce these terrorist threats. For now, there isn't much that can be done to stop the Brotherhood, and the only thing left to do what North Africa is doing is to change their laws to be able to implement even more of them. If no action is taken on either side, more and more people on both sides of the conflict will be brutally killed or injured. The Muslim Brotherhood is a growing problem that seems to be spiraling out of control. What makes this even more frightening is that the Brotherhood members responsible for the attacks believe they are serving Islam in a positive way and doing the right thing, even if the end result is simply too many unjustified victims..
