Topic > College Life: The Ideal College - 689

Everyone is expected to have imagination about college life before enrolling. I too am no exception. For my ideal college, it should be the same one that foreign TV series showed, with a big lush lawn where students can lie down in the shade of leaves, enjoying reading books or chatting with close friends; many clubs are created in schools; students can participate in a variety of activities such as singing competitions, speeches given by famous people, exclusive events organized by the school and so on. Furthermore, a wonderful college will not be complete without a spectacular library, equipped with a vast collection of books and comprehensive, global resources. However, all these imaginations vanished without a second when I entered my college. There was a large lush lawn in the center of the campus, although it can hardly meet my expectations because there were countless insects living in there. To which I compromise since it would never be as clean as the soft carpet in my cozy home. After a month of struggling to get used to the new and unknown things, I was bitterly announced that I was defeated by the fact that this college was completely beyond my imagination. The college was located in a small town and was surrounded by mountains. The best description of this was living in a wild national park. Being woken up by the chirping of birds was no longer an absurdity, with the change of seasons one also became open to different types of bird sounds. The natural environment here allowed those who had a strong curiosity towards insects to observe them directly, seeing them they were unable to rush into the dormitory and received a serious blow on the window, falling onto the windowsill like heroic deaths. Studying in this college is like li...... middle of paper ......shows some types of roommates to choose from; foreigners, students with similar habits or classmates. However, we had no choice but to live with classmates. He was free to discuss homework if I thought positively, which meant I had to be with the same group of people twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, regardless of waking up, taking classes, eating, and even sleeping every night. In the long run it was decidedly inflexible and exhausting, especially for me who attaches a lot of importance to private matters and quality of life. The gap between imagination and reality is always hard, but I have yet to face it. Escaping the real world is never a great way to solve problems. If it's hard to love what I've chosen or to smile and bear it, it's time to take action. I am well equipped to change the unsatisfactory situation and make it more acceptable.
