He forgot to say goodbye by Benjamin Alire SáenzIntroductionThe book I chose is Benjamin Alire Sáenz's book "He forgot to say goodbye", which covers the story of the protagonists, Jake and Ramiro. I had never read Sáenz's books before and when I picked up this book, I had no idea what I was about to read, except reading the summary on the back of the book. It became very clear that I could relate to Jake and Ramiro's problems and how they are dealing with them, as I also have divorced parents. Sáenz's ability to write sophisticated language, and the brilliance with which he can relate to Jake and Ramiro, is something few other authors have the ability to do. Therefore, it is in my interest to ask the question of how Sáenz uses the language of the book to describe teenage life.ThesisHow does Sáenz portray typical teenage life and acting in the book?ContextIn the book "He Forgot To Say Goodbye" by Benjamin Alire Sáenz, the reader has the opportunity to meet the two boys, Jake Upthegrove and Ramiro Lopez. Jake and Ramiro don't seem to have much in common. Ramiro, or Ram as he is called, lives in the Mexican-American suburbs. His life is surrounded by misery, due to drug addiction and his brother's theft. Jake, who is a rich white boy, has problems with his mother's superficial and materialistic world. However, they have one thing in common: they are lost boys who have never met their fathers. This fact has left them scarred and haunted by the men who abandoned them. Eventually, their paths cross and later they discover the problem they share. Jake and Ramiro's friendship develops into something bigger and their problems and the difference between them, which would also become... middle of paper... that being abandoned was the worst thing possible. With the help of each other and friends, they learn that life goes on. It's not always easy to continue living, but they understand that they must do so, to keep their family and friends intact. This book was fantastic. He discussed one of the most common problems or disadvantages faced in the present. Every character is real. They represent those in the world who learn an essential human attribute and have the power to overcome any difficult moment in life. We expect the characters to exceed expectations and no one should be disappointed in the end. A true coming-of-age story in which both protagonists learn the value of life. "We would have become sadder. It was true. But we would have lived. And that mattered." (303)-Ramiro LopezIntroductionThesisContextAnalysisDiscussion (optional)ConclusionList of sources
