Lennie dreams of living on a large ranch with George where he takes care of the fluffy bunnies he loves so much. However, Lennie sadly never reaches his ultimate goal as his flaw finally becomes his fatal flaw. Lennie kills Curley's wife by shaking her so hard that her neck breaks. He doesn't kill her on purpose but Lennie doesn't know his own strength. He's only shaking her like that because he wants her to stop screaming. Curley's wife observes that Lennie is "just like a big boy" (Steinbeck 99) and invites him to stroke her soft hair. Lennie starts touching her hair and really likes it, which leads him to stroke it too hard. When she started complaining, he panicked and started trying to silence her. He was afraid that George would no longer let him be part of the dream if Curley's wife was angry at what he had done. So he is shaking her to try to protect his part in the dream but it kills her and the dream too. Lennie remarks that she "did a bad thing" (Steinbeck 100) and covers her body with hay. Lennie hides in the bushes where George told him to hide when he got into trouble. George finally emerges to get Lennie while he is an emotional wreck. He then tells Lennie to take off his hat as he continues to tell them “how it will be” (Steinbeck 104). He orders Lennie to his knees and pulls out Carlson's Luger. Like the voices
