The crack and cocaine epidemic in the United States has shaped the American foundations of the war on drugs. In the early 1980s, most cocaine began to be shipped to the United States, landing in Miami, originally via the Bahamas and Dominican Republic (UDOJ).” The foreign origin of the drug made it easier for the dealer to safely return to the United States with the drug and also its receipt. “Soon there was a huge amount of cocaine powder in these islands, which drove the price down by up to 80% (UDJ).” Thus making it more assessable for shipping to America. Cocaine is known to be a highly addictive drug. Produced from the leaves of a coca plant it has caused the extensive production of the drug. The process of creating cocaine is a long procedure but there are five key points. The leaves of the coca plant are stripped to reach the essence of the natural properties, immediately after the leaf scarps are dried. The dried leaf scars are then synthesized to create a paste that will be dissolved to condense and multiply the amount of the drug. After this process, two very important chemical combinations are added: sulfuric acid and potassium permanganate. The product is further dried and turns white, so cocaine is created and sold on the streets of our nation. Cocaine is known as "pure" and the extensive process of producing cocaine is time consuming, making this form of the drug expensive. Crack cocaine is the most potent form of cocaine. Crack cocaine produces a very intense high that is often associated with repeated use of the drug and intense energy, hyperactivity, aggression, and paranoia. Crack cocaine is produced by turning cocaine hydrochloride into a solid form. This is done through... means of paper......weather-induced tensions between the federal government and minorities in those areas, predictably the black community. The black community believed they were being targeted because of the negative effect this drug had on the country. African Americans specifically called the central intelligence agency. Crack cocaine first began to be used in large quantities in Los Angeles in 1984. The drugs had been distributed and exploded that same An article published by San Jose new articles called The Dark Alliance The Dark Alliance article talks about how the CIA protected Blandon and Meneses who sold more than a ton of cocaine to Ricky Ross who converted the same cocaine into crack and sold it in urban neighborhoods, to the black communities of Los Angeles who crippled the black community in 1980s Los Angeles . By the end of 1986 it was available in 28 states and the District of Columbia.
