The Varna system or Vedic caste system, which later deteriorated into the modern caste system due to colonialism and misinterpretations, was natural and necessary for proper functioning of the company. In this article we see how it is very different from the modern caste system and how it is very natural and we will also see some evidence from the scriptures that supports it. The original caste system or Vedic caste system: Currently the caste system is all about some people feeling superior and others inferior based on birth, which is not the case with the original caste system or Vedic caste system or the Varna system. The Varna system is completely based on cooperation, trust and tolerance between different classes of people in the society who are supposed to perform different functions just like different parts of the body are supposed to function for the benefit of the whole body. Unlike the modern caste system, in the Vedic caste system there is no competition between different classes or varnas. The unfortunate and unwanted effects resulting from inequality and the spirit of exclusivity are not the central motif of the Vedic caste system. Different people have different inclinations and interests regardless of their birth, although education may have little influence on their inclinations. Based on the inclinations of people and their qualities there was varna division not by birth which was the modern scenario. For example: a person becomes a good engineer when he has this inclination and is educated in that direction. It is not that simply by being born an engineer a person becomes an engineer and it is not necessary for him to have that inclination to become an engineer even though he may have some i...... middle of paper ..... The advanced society certainly has need for warriors, merchants, teachers and workers. So instead of one's unbridled rights, more importance is given to one's duties. Conclusion The Varna system is one of the most questionable phenomena of India and is plagued with many controversies. However, upon deeper analysis, one finds that the fundamental need of this system was simply to ensure a healthy and flexible society, unlike the one that has been hardened due to colonial misinterpretation and mistreatment of the varnas , resulting in castes as we find them in India today. The original varna system was quite flexible in that one's varna could be changed based on one's ability and was not fixed as is often understood.
