Topic > Understanding Ethics in Engineering Practice - 755

Engineering is a noble profession and must support career ethics. An engineer must eliminate everything that is life-threatening and dangerous to the environment, health, well-being and more in the right of human being. It is an engineer's duty to ensure that his work is done efficiently and also able to comply with the law. Specifically, he must safeguard and confirm the working standards of workers employed under him to carry out work at ground level. The simplest rudimentary problem of an engineer is that he is accountable to an authority to which he risks being misreported to the client or employer. Although the engineer may be honest and diligent in his work, his corrupt and immediate authority puts the engineer's license at stake and overrides the ethics established in different engineering companies. Therefore whistleblowing in the engineering profession is not a new concept nor for that matter unusual as it impedes and prevents an engineer from doing the right thing in the right way.
