Topic > Character Analysis of The Godfather - 1474

An old man is sitting in a leather chair, dressed in a very expensive black suit, smoking a cigarette and sipping his old whiskey from his goblet glass. He is short, stocky, stocky - man with a skull. He was truly a man capable of scaring the devil himself into hell. His presence raised alarm bells of danger. His face was set in a mask of fury, his eyes were brown but without the heat of that color. His mouth wasn't so much cruel as lifeless; thin and the color of calf. He did not fear the police, he did not fear society, he did not fear God or hell, he did not fear or love his fellow man. This old man sat in his chair all day and offered his friendship to everyone who needed it because he is the only one who can help, he is the boss, he is the Godfather.1Everyone knows the famous quote from the movie "The Godfather" ', in a scene where Marlin Brando's character is considering how to get a rich man to do what he wants, he simply says, "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse." The fame of Mario Puzo's Godfather is not purely imaginary. He was his archetype because there were mafia bosses very similar to him, who sat almost like kings in their chairs and in their robes, welcoming visitors and offering friendship. Everyone needs friends, especially a friend who can help you solve all the problems you can't solve alone. Throughout the film, the phrase is used many times and serves to show how powerful and influential the Italian mafia, Cosa Nostra, is. Cosa Nostra succeeded in the early 1900s because it combined business shrewdness, intimidation and a strict code of loyalty. Cosa Nostra grew in part thanks to its leaders' keen business sense in providing carte blanche......he was full of ambition and strong charisma could transform him from a poor citizen into a tycoon. Many young people at that time knew that only the strongest can survive in Russia, so clans were created that defended their ideas and in most cases killed opponents who tried to prevent them from getting rich. Bold heads and leather jackets were the signs of Russian gangs. These clans were extorting money from all the businesses that had big profits, that's why they started gaining power and money. Russian criminals are very similar to Cosa Nostra, they started from nothing and earned fame and power. Cosa Nostra gave the Russians the idea that everyone can have their own rules and commands. Nobody will stop them if they have power and money, nobody has the right to command them, they are criminals and criminals always get what they want.
