In the world we live in there are many problems that people face on a daily basis and which affect their daily family life in terms of education, income and health. Many of these people have no idea where to turn for assistance or, because they have such a difficult time getting the assistance they so desperately need, they suffer for long periods of time. Fortunately, there are people and organizations who want to help these individuals and families overcome the problems that may arise by trying to improve their lives in many ways. A very important non-profit organization within the community is The United Way. United Ways across brings together diverse people and resources to address the most pressing issues facing their communities. Through their unique partnerships and approaches, United Ways raises resources that go beyond the sums pledged through their fundraising efforts. United Way's goal is to identify and solve community problems, as well as changes within communities through partnerships with schools, government agencies, businesses, organized labor, financial institutions, community development corporations, volunteer and neighborhood associations , religious communities and many others. Their main goal is to create lasting change by addressing the underlying causes of these problems. Education “America is facing an education crisis,” says Stacey D. Stewart, U.S. president of United Way Worldwide. “With more than 1.2 million children dropping out of school every year, we must work together to make real change.” (Unitedway.org). United Way believes that education is the cornerstone of individual and community success.
