I believe that parental involvement is essential to the success of a child's education. I think that for a child to excel in school, his parents or guardians must educate him as much as the teacher. It is important for parents to understand the effect they have on their children's education and how significant their role is. Since a child learns as much from his parents as from his teacher, it is important that parents also remain educated and familiar with the material the student is working on. In order for a teacher to properly educate a student, he or she must know the student in all areas of development, including parents, because of the crucial role they play in the child's growth and development. By involving parents, they can work with the teacher to develop a curriculum that best suits the student. Involving parents in their child's education benefits the student, parents and teacher because there will be ample support for the child's education. By involving parents, they are able to help the child transition out of school, which will help keep them on track with their education. I believe that with support from both the teacher and parents, a student is more likely to grow into a successfully educated person. I think communication is the key to keeping families involved in students' education. There are several forms of communication that I plan to use to communicate with families. I plan to use email and newsletters as my primary form of communication with my students' families. I think email is the best way to provide information quickly and a way for parents to ask me questions when they can't meet face to face. I believe... middle of paper... you judge them or mistreat them for whatever reason. I may also encounter parents with different views than mine and it is important to respect what they say and hear. The world is changing and becoming more diverse, so teachers need to be more open and informed towards diverse families. I found this course more interesting than I expected. I thought I knew a lot about parental involvement in education, but I learned much more than I imagined. I learned that there are many more different families than I thought and it was interesting to learn about them. I also discovered all the different types of communication that I will be able to use to communicate with my students' families. Overall I found this course very useful for future educators and I believe that thanks to it I will be able to communicate with my students' parents and engage them better.
