Having a consistent study plan could prevent the student from being absent, feeling anxious and understanding what is happening during class lessons (Pham, 1999). This may be related to Horwitz's (1986) theory on anxiety and how it prevents some people from performing well in the classroom. This theory explains a similar situation that the participant had faced. The participant felt that she lacked social skills which impeded her ability to ask for help in the time allowed to begin with the assessments. The participant found it difficult to participate in class activities and communicate with other students. If the student was able to feel confident in interacting and becoming well associated with other students, he or she would feel more comfortable participating
