“No woman can call herself free if she does not own and control her own body. No woman can call herself free until she consciously chooses whether or not she will be a mother”, this quote by Margaret Sanger, American birth control activist, shows the importance of women's personal choices. Women's struggle for their rights has begun since the beginning of history. Woman's work included only housework and childbirth, but in the 1920s women began to receive their choices and rights. In the twenty-first century, the world has perceived women equally and women have begun to receive equal opportunities, but one right that the government is taking away from women: the choice to use birth control and abort pregnancy. Society disapproves of aborting a fetus in the womb, but fails to realize the circumstantial situation that life places every woman in and should accept the decision a woman makes for her future, whether that choice includes use of birth control or termination of pregnancy. The accessibility of the contraceptive pill, the case Roe v. Wade and the women's personal stories demonstrate that a woman knows better for herself and her unborn child and that the government should have no say in a woman's reproductive rights. Many women in the past did not get the right to choose about their sexuality, but in the 1950s a pill to prevent pregnancy became a reality (Bringle, 61). The contraceptive pill is a preventive method to avoid unwanted pregnancies. The creation of this fertility control ended up as a scientific breakthrough, but the medical field has not yet given women accessibility to these pills. A birth control advocate, Margaret Sanger, "attacked legislative restrictions on birth control," informed many women of the customs and positions......at the heart of the document...."
