It's shocking how something as senseless as pregnancy discrimination still occurs. We are in 2015, where mobile phones have the ability to respond to humans and valuables can only be protected with a fingerprint, pregnant women who still work cannot be accommodated. In one case, a pregnant employee at a Walmart in Kansas was fired for asking if she could carry a bottle of water with her while she worked. Another way women are treated unequally is that they are paid less than men. Women earn 79 cents for every dollar a man earns, which equates to a 21% gender wage gap. Furthermore, sexism is still a serious predicament in a woman's life. It's atrocious how casual sexism has become something women have to get used to. When girls are “cat-called” on the street, they are taught to ignore rude comments, instead of standing up for their gender. Furthermore, whether it was a joke or it was serious, there is not a single woman in the world who has not heard: "Women belong in the kitchen" or "Girls can't be cute and smart" or any other phrase many other observations sexist.
