Diana Frances Spencer AKA Diana Princess of Wales - also known as Lady Di - was not only an iconic figure in the eyes of the world during the late 20th century, but she was also a great leader and champion of the masses in a personally very difficult moment. Diana grew up in Sandringham, Norfolk with her father and four other siblings, her mother not being around for most of her life. Diana was a quiet and shy school teacher who married the Prince of England on July 29, 1981 at St. Paul's Cathedral in London. She was able to overcome many of her personal difficulties. These included but were not limited to; her divorce from Prince Charles on 28 August 1996 for which the Queen had to give permission; his ongoing battle with depression; an eating disorder and dealing with the media's invasion of every aspect of her life. He tried to help others in their personal battles. These groups included, but were not limited to, people living with AIDS and people affected by landmines, with particular attention to children. Her kind heart towards others only increased her idolatry and she became known as the people's princess. She was admired and loved by all. Princess Diana was essentially hounded by the media, during and after her marriage to Prince Charles. Our dear princess has no privacy whatsoever, which ultimately contributed to her tragic and untimely death on August 31, 1997 at the age of 36. The news of her death profoundly shook the world around her. Only later did we discover that the paparazzi were not the main cause of his death, that in fact his driver, Henri Paul, was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the accident and was accused of grossly negligent driving.
