Introduction The article I chose is titled “Supply Chain Inventory Management: Pitfalls and Opportunities” by Hau L. Lee and Corey Billington. This article was published by MITSloan, Management Review, and caught my attention because it explains what most companies do to transform raw materials into intermediate and finished products. Also explained along the way are the pitfalls of supply chain management that managers often don't realize. Summary As mentioned above, this article covers common pitfalls that supply chain management faces in terms of information and operational issues. The first problems we see are based on communication between sites. Pitfalls created by communication are the lack of a supply chain metric, insufficient knowledge of the meaning of customer service, incorrect information on the delivery method, and insufficient information on the databases used between companies. Not having a supply chain metric brings conflict to the overall supply chain routine because companies that have different sites, do things in different ways and often have different goals to achieve. The problem is that when different sites work under the same supply chain but have different objectives, it creates inefficiencies for the entire chain. This goes hand in hand with a lack of sufficient customer service information. Not knowing how important customer service is to the company and how to respond quickly when delivery questions arise can harm the company's supply chain. The customer is becoming an important factor in daily business, so it is important to know how to answer questions about delivery methods. Most of the time it's... middle of the paper... and they are better prepared when situations arise. Furthermore, this article helps to understand the needs of stakeholders affected by supply chain management. When we better understand a specific topic, it is easier to find solutions for specific objectives or operational departments. This article adds value to the lesson by going into detail and providing examples of every pitfall that supply chain management can encounter, by doing so, it becomes easier to understand and visually how supply chain management works. Supply chain management is made up of various parts and can be difficult to understand, but after reading this article and having so many different examples of situations, I see all the opportunities that come from the pitfalls and am aware of all the problems that can happen to avoid realizing them.
