Assessment strategies enhance student learning and my professional development by providing feedback on their work to help them understand their strengths and weaknesses and identify which parts or aspects of their work need improvement. Providing frequent feedback can also be useful to help identify patterns of growth, provide guidance for a student's individual development, and help students improve their abilities to evaluate their own work and respond to the work of others. Students can develop a clear sense of their abilities by evaluating their own writing. Teacher evaluation is used to inform effective teaching. Student learning will have progressed and need to be reassessed so that instruction can be planned to extend new student growth.
