When I looked out of the cave I saw only a little snow left. There was mostly this green stuff coming out of the ground, which mom calls grass. I wanted to go out and play, but we weren't allowed to do that with only five full moons. What was it like out there? Is the snow cold? So many questions ran through my mind and I wanted answers. I realized that Mom was looking at me, so I lay down. "Luna, come and eat, tomorrow you can look outside" her father growled softly. I went where there was food, it wasn't much. A small amount of fish, some berries and some greens. I always got bad food, my older litter mates wouldn't let me eat until they were full. I was always rejected by the other pups, especially Moonstar. He hated me and every time I came near him he tried to hurt me. I still have a cut on my back left leg where he cut me. Mom and Dad didn't seem to care, like I was the unwanted puppy. The rest of the pups always said, "You're weird" or "You don't belong here, no one wants you." Susan, my mom's sister, always liked me. He told me stories about how I was the first to open my eyes and ears and how I was the first to start moving. He always brings me an extra portion of meat when no one is paying attention. Thanks to her I'm learning to hunt! He said he would bring me a real mouse to practice with tomorrow! After eating the meat Susan had saved for me, I curled up next to her while she cleaned my head. I could hear Dad talking to the hunting wolves in the pack about how they were going to hunt. I was falling asleep, but I thought, "maybe I could go with them..." When I woke up, Fa...... middle of paper ...... burst out with joy and we started running. The next dawn we were back in this place I call “home.” As soon as I entered the cave, Mom and Dad started growling at me: "Mom, Dad, it's okay, she's Luna!" - Fenrisúlfur explained, trying to push them away. “We don't care, she ran away, she's no longer welcome here. She's not one of us." They both growled, the same words, at the same time. I ran, I knew if I stayed I would get hurt. I wasn't even welcomed by my family. When I returned to my real home, I explained to everyone why I had left. Even if my real family is the wolves, my adoptive family is better than them. I will always protect the penguins, even if I have my own pack. We will always welcome the penguins, no matter what. “I love you guys, thanks for raising me like one of your children” I protested, hugging the penguin family.
