Planning for your career and retirement is something that most people dedicate a large part of their lives to. From choosing the career that best suits their needs, to what comes next, many are intimidated by the decisions they must make that appropriately fit their comfort level for the future. In this assessment, the discussion about career, retirement and everything that comes with it will be outlined. The most suitable career for me would most likely be that of an individual counselor or psychologist. This career allows me to pursue different paths of interest to me. These avenues include helping others through self-understanding, person-to-person interaction, and problem solving. All three of the above-mentioned aspects of a career in psychology definitely help lock me firmly in place as far as interest and satisfaction go. If an individual decides to align with a global company or work independently through their consulting vocation, they can earn a salary that allows for a comfortable lifestyle. Finally, the growth and change aspect is interesting. In psychology or the health field in general, we are constantly learning more, discovering new techniques, and finding better ways to heal. I find it particularly engaging because I am someone who needs to constantly immerse myself in new information and learn more. Retirement is the ability to retire from a career once the individual feels the need to slow down the pace of their lifestyle. Many people don't have much choice and may find it irritating to slow down, while others find this to be a key aspect of their peace and freedom.
