Some of these sea changes have been illegal searches and seizures, many unjustified arrests, along with the deportation of several suspected radicals across the country. During this period, more than ever, the United States had to ask itself who to let into the country. Prior to this, few problems had occurred at these levels. Many American government officials believed that many communist immigrants from Russia lived in America but worked for the other side (Wikipedia, 2017). This feeling is still very relevant even today. Many refugees are coming to America and causing problems in their homelands. These events were supposedly ended after the 1950s, however, there is still red scare in America today, as explained above. The Palmer Raids, or Palmer Red Raids, were conducted in America during 1919 and 1920, and were conducted by the United States Department of Justice. . These actions were conducted in hopes of arresting many of these radicals within the country, many of whom were ultimately deported to their home countries. These raids were titled as such because Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer was responsible for most of these post-World War I raids in America.
