Throughout American history, blacks and whites have always been separated in virtually every aspect of life. For example, people use black and white in relation to classes of people who are treated differently. The NNL was created when Major League Baseball (MLB) created a policy that any application belonging to any black or brown person would be denied. Naturally this angered black and brown people who wanted to play the most popular sport in America. This led them to split off and create their own league. After its creation, the NNL was relatively short-lived, lasting only another 20-odd years, until Jackie Robinson's appearance in 1947 as the first black male to play in the white major leagues, disrupted any need for a league black. After the integration of whites and blacks into the MLB, the NNL eventually dissolved into thin air. The NNL was also very important for the affirmation of African Americans in the United States economy. The NNL was a very important organization in its day. With the organization boasting 24 total teams across the nation, the league had widespread reach throughout the United States. This is important because it was able to provide job opportunities to people with lower socioeconomic levels and racial discrimination who otherwise would not have been able to get a job.
