CNN covers a variety of topics for its top stories, including crime disasters, the environment and business. The New York Times publishes several categories throughout its front page and also features photos showing bright, colorful designs. The main topics of discussion seem to revolve around Paul Ryan and his urges on the new healthcare law or Donald Trump (more specifically, the effects of his travel ban on people and their responses). Other sites tend to show events and situations where there is a problem to be solved or a tragedy that has befallen an individual. There are rarely stories about advances in science and technology or progress in eliminating poverty or disease, although there are some. These stories seem to show people who are working to try to stop it.
