The domestication of animals began in ancient times. Humans are believed to have domesticated animals such as cats for companionship in ancient Egypt and livestock for agricultural purposes. This was the first form of animal captivity. Over the years, the shape of the animal has undergone drastic changes. Currently, a form of animal captivity for entertainment purposes has emerged. We go to the zoo to see endangered animal species, we plan trips to SeaWorld to watch Shamu's circus-style orca whale show, swimming with dolphins is high on our to-do list. All this activity has one main thing in common; keep wild animals in captivity. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? Therefore, they are there for food and other types of services that benefit humans. While others totally disagree with this line of thinking. They believe that animals have emotions and can experience pain and pleasure to the same extent. It is believed that animals have rights, under animal rights, they must live freely in their natural habitat without human interference. When we interfere with wild animals when they are in their natural habitat, for any other reason than self-defense or survival, then this is animal cruelty. Since the capture of Tilikum in Blackfish in the year 1983, it has caused three deaths. Tilikum was captured in Iceland, considering all the time he was held in captivity it is logical that he developed more aggressive behavior than he would have if he had been free in the wild. Wild animals are meant to live freely and therefore will never be happy in captivity. This was the same case with Tilikum, he felt trapped and the closeness with the other whales made things worse as he was constantly harassed. This caused him to develop aggressive tendencies which led to the deaths of the three trainers. The documentary does not say in its entirety that this is what caused the aggressive behavior of the killer whale, even though it is documented that bull whales have never killed humans when they were in the wild. SeaWorld believes that captive orcas tend to live longer than wild ones. This is because they can be cared for when they get sick and are not vulnerable to other predators. However, this documentary tends to think differently, they believe that orcas in the wild have a much longer lifespan than orcas in captivity. SeaWorld, refused to be part of the documentary, this would only mean that the film would not paint SeaWorld in the best light. This therefore makes it difficult to verify the authenticity of all the information documented in the Blackfish documentary. The company's statement to CNN was that the film was misleading, inaccurate and is just exploiting the public about the tragedy. The company believes this helps in wildlife rehabilitation and conservation. I am of the opinion that providing care to sick or injured wild animals increases their life chances, as they are cared for by the best veterinarians, an opportunity that does not exist in nature. Technically their opinion is valid, but the question of how the animals got to the diseased state and how many of these problems are due to the fact that they were kept in captivity is not answered. After the release of In This Movie people had different opinions, but there was more harm than good.. 173).
