Amish women take pride in their skill in caring for nurseries, caring for their children, providing supplements for sustenance, and managing the home (Hershberger 1989, Wise 2007) . They take so much pleasure in seeing the value of their work increased by others. In recent times, some Amish women have increased their influence in commerce and industry as they have acquired small businesses such as blanket (quilt) stores, nurseries, and fabric stores (Kraybill 2001, Wise 2002). Unmarried Amish women often work as maids, teachers, or hired as household help while single, while some Amish women are usually single, taking factory jobs (manufacturing jobs) labeled primarily for men (Amish America).
