PersonalityPersonality is defined as “the relatively stable set of characteristics that influences an individual's behavior and gives it coherence”. (Textbook) Although heredity and environment help determine personality, many psychologists believe that there are five basic dimensions of personality. The Big Five Personality Test is a test that measures the personality traits of individuals. The Big Five are openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and emotional stability (neuroticism). Test scores are based on the results of thousands of other people's tests and are converted into "percentile scores." In other words, a person who takes these tests can compare themselves to another group of people who have taken the same test. Percentile scores indicate the percentage of people who scored lower on different dimensions. Openness to experience is indicative of a person's level of creativity and curiosity. High test scorers tend to be original, creative, curious, complex; Those who score low tend to be conventional, down-to-earth, with narrow interests and uncreative. (Big Five) The percentile score in this area was 65, meaning openness to new experiences is likely. Conscientiousness test scores provide information about an individual's level of organization and work ethic. High scorers tend to be reliable, well-organized, self-disciplined, and attentive; Those who score low tend to be disorganized, unreliable, and negligent. (Big Five) In this area, the percentile score was 64 to indicate a well-organized and reliable person. The results of extraversion tests indicate a person's level of sociability and enthusiasm. The individual's leadership style is one that encourages others but works best in situations where group members exemplify skill and enthusiasm. The individual appears to be able to accept responsibilities and challenges. The individual also exemplifies the skills necessary to be a great leader, but will need to be more assertive to facilitate better teamwork. The recommended course of action needed to move the individual towards more successful career management, higher EQ and effective leadership is as follows: Increase self-awareness Understand the importance of self- and social awareness, as well as self- and relationship management Learn to recognize stressors and how to manage them Keep an open mind and be more agreeable Focus on results, not leadership style
