The island was finally at peace and reunited under a unitary government that had no real power. Yet he was praised as an effective peacemaker in a skeptical world: a forced peace was better than no peace. The man Claudio had strange appetites and seemed to survive on very little sleep and kept no female company, he was completely different and unlike any other man. Claudius was heavily involved in funding genetic research and believed that humanity was master of its own destiny. Claudius was an avid proponent of transhumanism and believed that humans had the ability to alter their existence and move beyond the constraints of the current human form. Claudius dismissed religion as nonsense and certainly did not believe in the divinity of Yahweh, the God of his Jewish ancestors, and dismissed it as a Jewish fable based on the teachings of the ignorant ancients.
