The Value of Honor There is a priceless respect that everyone in the world possesses, and that is respect for a person's honor. A person's honor is something that cannot be bought, sold or exchanged, it is something that must be earned with the respect of your peers. An example of how honor is seen in everyday life through a person's word. A person's honor is supported by his word, and if he does not keep his word then there is nothing left. Trying to explain the personal characteristic of honor is something that cannot be done in a few words or one sentence. I have a feeling that honor is made up of different combinations of personal traits depending on the individual. Some of these characteristics of honor may include loyalty, reverence, respect, and commitment. Although honor is usually considered a personal characteristic, there are people who think that honor can only be given or shown to an individual. Such examples can be seen by receiving a medal or having a parade in your honor. This is all a horrible misunderstanding of the word honor. A time when honor is displayed more often than it is during a time of war. This is evident through feats of valor and heroism. Looking at this aspect of honor, I have a feeling that a person who fights and dies for their country would have more loyalty and commitment in presenting such honor.
