I remembered sitting in the living room of my aunt's house after getting off the bus from preschool. She would feed me lunch and after I ate all the chicken nuggets I could turn on the TV before taking a nap. There was always something that was interesting to look at. A lot of them definitely had a lot of color schemes and fast-paced stuff. Gullah Gullah Island was one of my favorites. It aired as a thirty minute episode that had a giant hopping yellow muppet frog that was hilarious. It had a tropical theme, upbeat, bubbly music, and happy people living their happy lives. They would represent different actions that happened in real life. Most of the actions were bad. Actions carried with them consequences or a moral lesson. The main characters of the show would tell us why that action was wrong and how we should fix it if we were to come across the same case again. Having learned their lesson, the show ended with an upbeat, upbeat theme song. Media has become a booming industry. “Media” can be considered the Internet, magazines, newspapers, blogs, books, films, video games and, above all, television. The list of different types of media is long, but there are some that are used more than others. The Internet is one of the highest. Due to its easy access, literally billions of people can search easily. "66% of high school students get news and information from the news pages of Internet portals such as Google and Yahoo!" (Baker). The media is also a help for many companies. Media is used to sell items such as blockbuster movies, new toys, cars, and even alcohol. It is used to promote other businesses such as Subway and McDonald's. It is used to educate... middle of paper... she was a housewife who cleaned, cooked, and cared for Archie. I felt pressured to have a clean house, which I don't like to do. I'm not a good cook and I have trouble taking care of myself. “Girls who consistently see women portrayed as helpless victims or housewives are likely to accept this view of women as part of their sexual role” (Kasschau 196). How does media technology help a child's cognitive development? There are numerous things that help with the development of their minds. Technology offers a lot of potential when it comes to children's learning ability. It also has ways to discourage and influence children in what they want to do with their lives. Whether it's TV shows or the news, teach kids everyday skills they need to know. Before that time comes when they go out into the world as individuals.
