Dove soap is much more than just a bar of soap. Dove products are made to help people find their inner beauty, something that soap can't wash away. Leading a happy and healthy life depends on happiness and self-confidence. Given that more than 80% of the world's population is dissatisfied with their appearance (Ross), this topic is difficult to address. This Dove commercial shows that self-confidence and discovering your inner beauty leads to a happier life, full of love and happiness. Dove is a soap company that has made a wide variety of different products such as hair care, body wash, and deodorant. According to their website, Dove's goal is to “[build] positive self-esteem and [inspire] all women and girls to reach their full potential. [Making sure we build] a movement where women everywhere have the tools to take action and [to] inspire each other and the girls in their lives” (Dove). The symbol of the dove is a dove. This bird is a symbol of serenity and beauty, as well as elegance and grace. In the advertisement men and women, old and young are brought into a large room. The room is divided into two sections. From the camera position, ordinary people sit to the right of the tent and an FBI sketch artist sits to the left. The designer, named Gil Zamora, trained at the FBI academy in 1993. He worked as a police artist from 1995 to 2011. At the beginning of the commercial, a woman with long blonde hair, named Florence, begins talking to the camera. He tells us what the group was told to do before the interview. She says: "I showed up at a place I'd never been to and there was a guy with a drawing table. I didn't know what he was doing, but after several questions I realized he was drawing me. He's not an artist. .. middle of paper... what are you saying?” This is the last question asked to the public. Throughout the advertisement, Dove portrays the idea of being happy with your beauty. We see that soap cannot wash away what we are given, but it can help you find your true beauty. We are reminded that we are our harshest critics and that this self-criticism can unfairly impact the choices we make. Ultimately, this awareness challenges us to see our "weaknesses" as strengths and to live the happiest and freest life possible.
