Euthanasia - the end of a person's life with the aim of freeing oneself from the pain and suffering of an incurable disease (euthanasia). Currently adult euthanasia is legalized in different forms in countries such as Colombia and Japan, as well as the US states of Oregon, Vermont and Washington, and in some European countries: namely the Netherlands and Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland ( Belgium has adopted an unprecedented law on infant euthanasia). At this time, the topic of euthanasia is very relevant, as numerous debates take place on this topic and its resolution. The purpose of the essay is the evaluation of the positive and negative aspects of euthanasia. The study will begin by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of euthanasia. The first time euthanasia was allowed in the Netherlands in 1984. Euthanasia in this country has been legal since April 2002. And in Belgium, euthanasia for children was legalized in 2014 (the Belgian parliament approved a law on infant euthanasia). Mainly euthanasia or medically assisted suicide has two types: active and passive. Active is when a person deliberately and directly causes the death of the patient and in passive euthanasia the death is caused by an omission by suspending or refusing treatment to let the person die (euthanasia and doctor-assisted suicide). In most cases euthanasia is performed because the person who dies asks for it, but there are cases called euthanasia in which a person cannot make such a request. That is, a situation in which people fall into a coma. Very often, instead of these people, the request for euthanasia is addressed to their relatives, who see that people have no chance to live. For example, the 95-year-old Nobel Prize winner for physiology and medicine, Christian de Duve, Belgian,...... in the center of the document... parliament approved a law on infant euthanasia."
