Cars have been around for about a full century and have come a long way. Although Henry Ford is believed to have invented the automobile, the Baushke family actually built America's first automobile in Benton Harbor, Michigan in 1894. In American History Henry Ford's famous Model T was very popular in the early 1900s and cleared the markets. Although Henry Ford was not the first person to invent the automobile, Henry Ford had a goal to revolutionize the way people travel and it all started with the mass production of the Model T. Today, automobiles are one of the inventions most significant ones that we still use today. All over the world, there are asphalt road systems on which cars can travel. Along with the Ford Motor Company, Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Chevrolet, GMC, and Lincoln joined the automobile manufacturing competition. Henry Ford founded the Ford Motor Company in 1903 ("Ford Motor Company"). GM (“Company: History and Heritage”) was founded in 1908 and Mopar (“Evolution of a Brand”) in 1937. Today, there are numerous competing automakers, and the automobile is the most reliable means of transportation in America and around the world. The invention of the automobile undoubtedly had one of the greatest impacts on American history. Since then, automakers have made numerous types of vehicles to best suit your driving style, including SUVs, trucks, compact cars, luxury cars, and sedans, etc. Countries from all over the world also joined the competition such as Toyota, Nissan and other European countries...... middle of paper...... located outside the city and the fuel came in jerry cans or containers. Sometimes the distances between depots were too long for automobiles, so a long walk or the aid of a horse would be required to acquire the gas. As automobile sales increased, the demand for fuel led to a more efficient way. In 1914 Standard Oil of California opened a chain of 34 service stations along the West Coast. Soon gas pumps were installed not only at gas stations, but also at hardware stores, feed companies, horse stables, and a variety of other retailers. Automobiles created new problems in cities. Especially with an excessively abundant supply of cars. The large number of automobiles and the large number of trips in those cars to and from home, work, places of entertainment, grocery stores, and many others have made traffic a universal problem throughout the country.
