Context:Literature Summary:Entering high school isn't easy, and once you get in, it's not that bad, it's no harder than elementary school, except the thought of entering a new world gives students great fear. Once Grade 9 students start their first semester, it's not that bad; it's just the initial thought of high school that lowers their confidence. A child gains confidence through achievement (Bayfield, 2002). I agree that this is a fact because once they see themselves earning after hard work; they will want to work harder to succeed even better than last time. Students are more likely to be motivated and engaged and their results are more likely to improve (Sanacore, 2008). If their achievement is greater, they will gain confidence to achieve more until they reach their goal. Motivation is linked to confidence because “students appear to show greater levels of motivation, challenge, and success when the topic and task are self-generated and when they are familiar with and interested in their questions… confidence contributes to effective performance supporting the decrease in motivation anxiety students lack confidence, have difficulty recovering from failures or problems encountered during research.” (Valenza, 2006) This librarian is trying to explain that the only way to help students gain confidence is through the enjoyment of the lesson. “Always begin with the end in mind” (Covey, 1998) which means setting a goal and work towards that goal by overcoming many obstacles. You should have a vision of what kind of lifestyle you would like to have in the future. When students know that what they are aiming for is worth working hard for, they put in a lot of effort to reach the end and ... halfway through the paper... they stay with her the first couple of weeks trying to thread the machine While she was making the gift bag, she didn't know how to turn the corners, so I had to start one of the corners so she could finish the last step of the project. She was able to finish her boxers because she had come to lunch a few times to complete them. There were some pages missing from the binder, so we had to search for them. Works Cited Bayfield, T.
