Million Dollar BabyMillion Dollar Baby, Clint Eastwood's latest film as director, has recently received more and more positive reviews and is even better than Mystic River. At first glance, the film seems like another boxing movie cliché. However, Eastwood managed to create a compelling and moving story about the intricate world of human relationships, the price of success and the fulfillment of dreams. The film explores many different topics. Million Dollar Baby is about friendship and respect. It's about love and dreams. The main theme of the film is the boxing career of Maggie Fitzgerald (played by Hilary Swank), a 30-year-old waitress who lives alone and barely manages to survive. However, she is strongly determined to become a professional boxer and that is why she seeks the help of Frankie Dunn (played by Clint Eastwood), a boxing trainer and gym owner. Initially, Frankie is unwilling to train her because she is a woman and too old to have any chance of achieving significant results in professional boxing. However, Frankie's friend and partner, Eddie Dupris (played by Morgan Freeman), really believes in Maggie and lets her train in a corner of the gym. As time passes, Maggie's persistence and Eddie's intrusiveness finally change Frankie's mind. This is when the real story begins. Maggie's determination and strong will to achieve her dream, combined with Frankie's excellent training skills, launch them both into the orbit of professional boxing where they gloriously win battle after battle. Although the story seems like a big cliché, in truth, the world of Million Dollar Baby involves much more than boxing and success. Clint Eastwood covers topics like love, f... middle of paper... she's happy. Overall, all the actors in the film make the audience feel what they feel and this is essential for the film as the plot is deeply emotionally charged. As reviewer Sean O'Connell notes in his article on Filmcritic.com, Million Dollar Baby should have been "a half-baked, awards-season film from a respected director still basking in the glow of his latest piece well received". Luckily, the film turned out to be one of the best films of the year. Once again Clint Eastwood surprises everyone with his work as a director. It gives the audience a chance to look at life from another point of view. The film makes us reflect on what he or she has achieved in life and Maggie shows us that it is never too late to make a dream come true. After all, this is precisely why we are born and live: to make our dreams come true.
