In F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan was a very important character, without her the novel would never have gone the same way. Daisy Buchanan was very rich, materialistic and complicated. I think Daisy was a lot deeper than people gave her credit for. Daisy wasn't a very rich person on her own, but with her husband Tom Buchanan she had all the money in the world. Tom and Daisy had a really lovely house and of course all the beautiful things you could imagine about it. Daisy wasn't afraid to flaunt what she had. For example, when they invited her cousin, Nick Carraway, to visit them, she always tried to impress him with her things that she thought were of great value, but to her surprise Nick was not very flattered. Daisy didn't know what to do without her wealth. It was all he had ever had and he depended so much on it.
