Topic > Putting the Puzzle of My Life Together - 1967

Life can be like a puzzle when you put the pieces of history together: When times were bad in the 1900s, people began to emigrate to new parts of the world. My great-grandparents emigrated from Italy at the beginning of the twentieth century and had to move away from their country to survive. Many people have moved to the northern part of the world while many others have moved to the southern part. My great grandparents decided to move south. They choose to immigrate to the city of Chihuahua. The city at that time was small; most of it was dirt. People traveled on horseback. They had to travel on horseback to reach the nearest general store. Most of the time they had to produce their own food. Chihuahua had good soil, so people could grow many foods. Tomatoes, onions, cheese and many other products grown by people. Technology wasn't as advanced as it is today, so many people didn't have money to pay their bills or phones. So they had to learn to write to relatives back home. Everything had to be handmade. They didn't have many appliances back then, so they had to wash by hand. I don't think my daughter could have survived those times. He can't live without a phone or a car. My great grandparents must have had a really hard life. My grandmother always told me stories of how her father took her on horseback and how they encountered Indians on their journey. He said his father sometimes feared the Indians, but eventually they ended up becoming friends and began exchanging items. On many occasions my grandmother also tried to teach us Italian, but I never noticed, Spanish was easy. How convincing was life in America... middle of paper... I found a new man in my life who cares about me giving me that support I need as a woman. The love I always looked for because I deserved it. And now more than ever I can see clearly what I want. I also think that when I'm fifty I'll start traveling the world. First I would like to start with Italy, so I can visit my grandmother's town. I would also like to see where she grew up and what Italians are like. All I remember are the stories he told me about his country. I am also interested in going to South America, specifically Brazil. I will like to travel because I will be able to meet different types of people in the world. I think when I turn eighty I will be able to complete the puzzle of my life because as I get older the pieces of my life start to fit together better being old is not a bad idea.
