Females have the ability to bear children. Shouldn't they have the right to choose whether or not to put up with them? It has long been argued that there should be bans or strict laws against those who choose to have abortions. State legislatures have done a great deal to make abortion more difficult. There is nothing wrong with restrictions on abortions. But it makes no sense to say that abortions should be banned, because there are some special cases in which the mother cannot help her situation. Abortions are acceptable under certain circumstances. Abortion is defined as the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to terminate a pregnancy. In the United States there are clinic abortions and the abortion pill. In-clinic abortions vary depending on the stage of pregnancy the woman is in; Dilation before the first trimester and dilation and evacuation after the first trimester. The abortion pill is a type of medicine used up to 9 weeks after the first missed period. Starting from the Supreme Court decisions Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton of 1973, who legalized abortions saying it was unconstitutional for a state to ban them, abortion has been a controversial topic. When a woman is raped, whether by a stranger, a close friend or a family member and becomes pregnant, it should be her choice whether or not to have the baby. State legislators should not be able to make this type of decision. The State must not raise the child. The state cannot financially support the child. Therefore they have no right to dictate the birth of the child. The woman would be the one who will have to endure the pain, emotion and anguish that comes with giving birth to that child. It should be his decision. It should... center of paper... Without exception endanger women's health." NARAL Pro-Choice America Fact Sheet. Vol. 1. 2012. Rpt. in Are Abortion Rights Threatened? Ed.
