Abortion is the practice of terminating a pregnancy, which causes the death of the human fetus. People are debating whether abortion is right or wrong and there are two main camps: those who think abortion should be illegal, also known as pro-life, and those who think abortion should be legal, known also as pro-choice. Both sides feel so strongly about the issue that it is regularly debated in politics, states and citizens. "There are some pro-choice advocates who believe that abortion should be used only as a last resort, as well as some pro-life positions that range from opposing abortion under any circumstances to accepting it in cases of rape, incest or when a woman is at risk" (abortionprocon.org). Abortion should be legal but needs more restrictions. It should only be legal to save a woman's life, in cases of rape if counseling doesn't help, and incest. Conservative viewpoint from US News. In the article Abortion Is Not Prowoman, Prolife Is Prowoman by Penny Nance, “I truly believe that if we protected women as we should, abortion would never be necessary.” (Nance) talks about how we still can't forget the cases of rape, incest and the mother's life. But then he contradicts his statement by saying it's a red herring, which is to downplay the real issue. It claims that big abortion companies want any abortion, for any reason, at taxpayer expense without helping the poor woman or girl deal with her real issues that brought her to the abortion clinic. Use all the consequences to discourage the reader from abortion. Nance says it hurts women physically, emotionally and mentally forever and kills an unborn child. Even though in the article he uses... middle of paper... country to be able to ask whether abortion should be legal while enjoying the freedom to choose what is right for ourselves, even if it causes someone else uncomfortable." (Johnson) Although both articles discussed the positive and negative aspects of abortion, both authors did so in very different ways. The conservative article did so by talking about scaring women physically, emotionally, and mentally forever , health risks and the fact that the abortion clinic only cares about money but not the patient The liberal article used a supportive tone to show that women should have the right to make their own decision on their own body and create safe and legal abortions while abortion does both sides are so strong on the issue that it is regularly debated in politics, states and the public, opinions on the matter are extremely varied.
