Many students use technology to cheat because they are able to quickly find answers online simply by searching for them. Cheating is increasing at a rapid rate in the United States because many high school or college students are faced with different responsibilities, pressures, and loads of different types of work. Richard Perez Peña states in "Studies Find More Students Cheating," "Access to the Internet has made cheating easier, allowing students to instantly connect with answers, friends to consult, and jobs to plagiarize." Plagiarism, or using someone else's work as your own, is the most common form of cheating in high school and college. Plagiarism occurs when you don't cite a source properly or don't put the correct quotation marks on a borrowed quote to make your point. Some students don't even know what plagiarism is and they do it using the technology we have today. Many professors argue that technology develops every day and that they can't keep up, so students use that technology to cheat. Therefore, professors are trying to use different websites, such as Turnitin, where students submit their work and the computer searches different files online to check for plagiarism.
