At this point in Beauty's development, she has somehow resolved all of Freud's psychosexual stages, while living with the results of those stages she had become slightly fixated on. The genital phase begins at puberty and continues for the rest of Beauty's life. Luckily for Beauty, she's only nineteen, so there's still plenty more for her to experience. In previous stages, the focus was on individual needs, which involved seeking immediate pleasure and gratitude for oneself, while now the focus is on the well-being of others. The beauty has now transformed into a young adult who not only focuses on her own happiness, but also takes into consideration the happiness of those who are important to her. The goal of the genital phase is to create a balance between the different aspects of life. As a full-time college student with a part-time job and engaging in extracurricular activities on campus, Beauty is developing a sense of balance and expanding into her realm of independence.
