Pregnancy is something extremely special in many people's lives. When expectant mothers discover the bundle of joy growing furiously within them, happiness is something they are sure to find. But what happens when that happy moment isn't so happy? More than half of pregnancies among American women are unintended, and about four in ten of these are terminated through abortion. (Jones) That's four out of ten children who will never see the light of day. And not to mention the illegal or accidental abortions that also occur in the United States. All this happens because of a far from simple, life or death decision. That decision ultimately rests with the mother carrying the child, except in the few states that have laws stating that a parental guardian must agree if the prospective mother is a minor. But this decision should never be taken lightly. Abortion has become well known and will surely start an argument between two people who disagree. It has also become a very controversial topic. This medical procedure has been around for a long time and has essentially evolved with society and advanced technology. In simple terms an abortion is when a pregnancy is terminated so that it does not result in the birth of a child. (BPAS) This ongoing feud over abortion has many aspects that translate into many different points of view. Abortion should be made illegal because it is inhumane, with the exception that the mother or child is at risk. Many things may come to mind when talking about abortion such as ethical reasoning, religious views, issues and risks, and what ifs and options. The many problems make it a very heated topic that everyone has an opinion on.
