Antonio VivaldiBorn in the 17th century, Antonio Vivaldi was a composer who wrote some of the best-known musical works. All his life he loved music. His greatest passion was music. He still plays his masterpieces today. He wrote many different styles of music, including sacred music, operas, concertos, and chamber music. Antonio Vivaldi contributed greatly to the genre of classical music. Even though he is dead, his music will live on and continue to live for centuries to come. Antonio Vivaldi was born in Venice, Italy on March 4, 1878. Antonio Vivaldi learned music from an early age. His father, Giovanni Battista Vivaldi, taught him to play different types of instruments. Giovanni Vivaldi was himself a violinist. Learning from his father helped him a lot, but he also received lessons from some other musicians and composers in Venice. Antonio learned to play the violin well quite quickly. But the wind instruments took a toll on him as he soon found that he quickly became short of breath. Vivaldi underwent religious training to become a priest. It gave him a free education to become something more. This is where he got his nickname. It is one of the most famous nicknames in classical history. The nickname was "il Prete Rosso", in Italian, or "the red priest". He received his colleagues. Although he became a priest, his career was cut short due to his health problems. He had trouble saying mass, which forced him to leave the priesthood. This is when he returned to his music. He started writing a whole variety of different pieces and different styles. This is what really took his musical career to a different level... middle of paper... sacred works. He was well known for much of his life, but was forgotten towards the end. His work was rediscovered in 1900 and he became well known and a master at what he did. All of his work has been revived and performed since World War II. This discovery of Vivaldi's entire work has filled many musicians with inspiration. He also inspired many other great composers, such as Bach. His music is the basis of the work of many composers and will be the one to come. Even though Antonio Vivaldi no longer composes music, his works will live on and on in time to come. Works Cited "Antonio Lucio Vivaldi". 2014.
