America is seen as the land of opportunity around the world, but many people wonder if this is true. The truth is that America has opportunities and with dedication anything is possible even if opportunities are limited. Usually limited for those of a lower social class. The main reason why opportunities are limited is America's social inequality. The American social class is divided into multiple groups that struggle with each other due to inequality of power and wealth on a daily basis within the country. Social class has always been influential in America, although many people argue that someone's social class is insignificant when building friendships or any other relationship. But the reality is that these thoughts are wrong because the truth is that social class has become a broader concept than we think. Due to class difference, all social classes have distanced themselves from each other and avoid interacting with each other (Bartlett 1). One social class that was highly isolated from the rest were all those living in poverty. Many people are aware of the problems associated with poverty, but choose to do nothing expecting the government to solve the problem. What people don't take into consideration is that their problem doesn't just affect them, but the entire country. According to Ron Smith, escaping poverty has become more difficult than in years past due to a lack of job opportunities and the expense of caring for a family. Smith also said that the government is working to find a solution to the problem of poverty or, more importantly, to try to find a way to prevent it from increasing.
